First and foremost, thank you for your continued dedication and passion for the Builders of Color Coalition. You have helped to elevate us to incredible heights in a short period of time -- we wouldn't be here without you.
For those seeing my name for the first time, I founded the organization in 2017, and at our Annual Celebration this past December, the board asked me to return as its next executive director. I'm thrilled to rejoin this incredible community and to build upon the powerful initiatives that have expanded opportunity and created considerable wealth. I'm deeply grateful to Colleen Fonseca for her immense accomplishments while leading BCC, as well as to Kenn Turner for steering us ahead as our interim executive director, and I'm honored to build upon their legacies. I’ve been devoted to the development and real estate sector my entire life – I’m a housing developer myself as a partner at Boston Investments, an advisory board member of the Urban Land Institute-New England, a community real estate fellow with the Boston Ujima Project, and a member of the CHAPA Affordable Housing Policy Leadership Council, which awarded me its Changemaker Award in 2023.
As we proceed into 2025, we do so with a bold, new strategic plan to propel the next era of our work. We will double down and grow the reach of our Institute, building a thriving ecosystem of diverse developers and real estate professionals across the region through our fellowships, forums, and program partnerships. We will also launch our Innovation Center, working to help institutions and firms to attract new clients, contractors, partners, and employees, by identifying and elevating innovative initiatives around the country successfully expanding access to capital, land, and education. As we grow to impact the real estate industry nationally, we have broadened our name to The Builder Coalition (TBC), to affirm our inclusive ethos and to help unlock magnitudes more talent and opportunity.
You’ll be hearing from us often over the next several months, as we share the events and activations we have on the horizon, most notably the first-ever National Capital Investors Summit on September 24th, bringing financial institutions and investors from across the country to Boston, to share and build best practices to solve capital gaps for emerging developers.
