Mobilizing Institutions to Open the Real Estate Industry

The TBC Innovation Center works nationally to identify, test, and scale the models that expand access to capital, land, and education — and to embed them inside the institutions that shape who gets to build.

What We Do

The real estate industry systematically underutilizes talent. Emerging firms face compounding barriers — limited early relationships, uneven exposure to capital and land, opaque public processes, and institutional practices that favor incumbents. These barriers don't reflect a lack of capability. They reflect how the industry is built.

The Innovation Center exists to change that. We don't just point to the problem — we mobilize the financial institutions, public agencies, and trade associations that hold the keys, helping them redesign the products, processes, and pathways that decide who can participate.

We do this by pairing insight with implementation: surfacing what's working across the country, convening the people who can act on it, and working alongside institutions to turn proven ideas into deployed capital and executed projects. The result is a set of durable on-ramps into the real estate economy — and a field that is opening doors rather than reinforcing them.

Our Pillars

Our work moves across three mutually reinforcing pillars. They aren't a one-way line — each pillar strengthens the others. Insight feeds connection, connection drives implementation, and what we learn in the field continually renews the knowledge base.

Our Focus Areas

Across every platform, the Innovation Center concentrates on the three access points that most determine who can build.

What We Build

Help Us Change How Access Happens

Whether you're a financial institution rethinking how you deploy capital, a public agency reworking how you dispose of land, or a leader who wants to be part of the movement — there's a place for you in this work.
